The Aegean Sustainable Tourism Observatory was created to support private and public decision-makers with data and analysis on tourism in Aegean destinations, but also in Greek tourism in general, as well as other information that can contribute in this direction.

The Observatory operates under the auspices of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) and is a member of the Global Network of Sustainable Tourism Observatories (http://insto.unwto.org/). In this capacity he participates in the Committee for the Measurement of Sustainable Tourism of the UNWTO which deals with the development of methodologies for the improvement of the way of measuring the tourist activity (https://www.unwto.org/standards/measuring-sustainability-tourism).
